Look out for a 40-page excerpt of my novel, to be published in October in the literary journal, West Trade Review. I’m honored to be published here and thrilled that the book is gathering steam. Actively looking for an agent!!
I’m delighted to have published “The Suitor” with the beautiful literary journal, Book of Matches. Here is a link to Issue 5.
I’m honored to be included in Issue 16 of Embark, a literary magazine devoted to novels-in-progress. Out today, the first chapter of Baby Goldman, accompanied by an author statement, shares space with nine other inspiring excerpts. Please read and follow the publication, which is dedicated to supporting writers and their work.
Read the opening of my novel-in-progress, which just won the Arch Street Press First Chapter Contest.
So, you decide to write a nonfiction book about an event in your family’s past and then realize that the tale is best told as fiction, sending you to the rewrite room to begin anew. And begin you do, thinking you’ve made the correct decision but are not really sure…until you test the wordy waters and submit your first chapter to a first chapter contest–why they heck not?–and you win. Ta dah. So fun. So excited.
Being-a-Writer Lesson # 587: Drive off the road.
Thank you Arch Street Press for selecting my work-in-progress and putting it out in the world.

Out today in The Barcelona Review…my short story about a dog’s memorable day.
In Doubleback Review today, “Say it was Love,” an essay first published in Underwired Literary Magazine in 2011. Doubleback reprints pieces that appeared in lit mags that are now defunct, giving them new life. A fantastic project, given that many journals struggle to stay open.
Looking forward to seeing my short piece, “Matchbox,” in the pages of the journal, Brilliant Flash Fiction. Check back for the link in January.
