I can help you with all of your writing tasks, whether you need to craft a college or graduate school application essay, learn grammar or edit a manuscript. Read on for details…
Unlike many other writing coaches, I bring a career’s worth of reporting, writing and editing skills to your personal essay, wherever you may be in the process. The results are exemplary; admission officers have even contacted my students, praising their work.
First, I draw out your story, as if I were interviewing you for a feature story. We hit upon the message of your experience.
Second, we brainstorm the details.
Third, we figure out where the piece begins and ends.
Fourth, you write, guided by an outline crafted from the above elements.
Fifth, we edit and refine.
Sixth, we celebrate.
My methods are proprietary. My students have had great success, having been accepted to the University of Pennsylvania (Undergraduate and Nursing), Columbia University, University of Chicago, Stanford University, MIT, UCLA, New York University, Duke, University of Virginia, University of Texas, University of Texas Plan II, William and Mary, Johns Hopkins (Undergraduate and Nursing), Texas Tech 8-year Medical Program, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Emory Nursing, Baylor Medical School, Baylor Dental School, Purdue Engineering, University of Michigan, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, George Washington University, University of Southern California and University of Georgia, among many other undergraduate, graduate and honors programs.
I offer private in-person and online instruction for students needing remediation or enrichment. Tutoring supports and enhances elementary, high school and college curriculums, focusing on grammar, mechanics, essay and research paper writing. I also teach creative writing, using strategies for storytelling that I’ve developed in my career as a nationally-recognized professional writer.
As a classroom and private English, Writing and Journalism teacher of K-12, college and adult students, I’ve developed tutoring techniques that adapt to your individual needs. Additionally, I have four years of experience teaching students with dyslexia, reading comprehension and attention deficits and can tailor instruction for optimal learning results.
I have taught at DePaul University, Columbia College (Chicago), Dallas Independent School District (7th grade ELA), The Greenhill School (Dallas), Packer Collegiate Institute (New York City) and EBL Coaching (New York City).
I provide editing services for companies and individuals.
For companies, projects include websites, correspondence, reports, manuals, press releases and marketing materials. My clients include physicians, psychologists, financial services companies, small business owners and executives in a variety of industries.
For individuals, projects include fiction and nonfiction manuscripts (developmental editing, line-editing, critiques), websites, journal articles, student papers, correspondence and other personal documents.
